We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council as an Income Officer.
The role:
The main purpose of the role is to ensure East Suffolk Council (ESC) maximises its income through the effective collection and recovery of housing related income. We work supportively and proactively with our tenants to reduce arrears and sustain tenancies.
We are looking for an individual to work in our team, providing a frontline service to customers responsible for effective collection and recovery of housing related income. You will be able to demonstrate a proactive and consistent approach to income recovery in line with ESC arrears policies and procedures, as well as being able to work with Housing Officers, the Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, and other Council departments to ensure a consistent approach to tenancy sustainment and enforcement whilst minimising financial loss.
What you will need:
You will have previous experience of working in a housing environment alongside knowledge and a good understanding of Housing Law, Housing Benefit Regulations, and Welfare Rights. You will have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative in stressful situations.
Being mobile / having access to a car to attend business meetings at other sites / locations within the district on a regular basis is essential criteria for this role. You will also be required to work from our Lowestoft office, Riverside at least one day per week.
