EHS Adviser at Mediq UK
We are recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environment (EHS) Advisor to join our QA team based in Castle Donington.
Reporting into the Head of Quality and Regulatory, the EHS Advisor will support with the development and implementation of procedures and practices to proactively manage the environment, health and safety performance, minimizing risk to employees and the company.
You will provide advice and support to site/department managers and operatives with a focus on continued improvement and driving of company, group, and statutory compliance.
Please note this role has a requirement to travel to our transport hubs and facility in Larne, Northern Ireland and occasionally work alternative shift patterns.
Responsibilities:
* Working with the Quality Manager to develop site/departmental specific procedures that are legally compliant and reflect the operational needs of the business.
* Support the Quality Manager with the implementation/roll out of EHS procedures to ensure appropriate checks are completed in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Support Site/Departmental Management in the development and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
* Undertake active occupational monitoring i.e. noise, COSHH, vibration assessments, within the workplace.
* Ensure appropriate EHS training programs, relevant to the needs and risks in the business, are implemented to maintain legal compliance.
* Raise awareness and promote the corporate EHS culture and objectives.
* Ensure site Business Continuity Plans are updated and annual drills are conducted.
* Confirm Emergency preparedness by ensuring fire alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers etc. are maintained and regular drills are completed.
* Carry out site inspections and compliance audits and monitor the closeout of non-conformances within each site/department.
* Work with line managers to devise action plans to improve EHS performance within each site/department.
* Investigate EHS failures and ensure that relevant remedial actions are implemented throughout the site/department.
* Review EHS data and support the implementation of recommendations for continuous improvement in performance.
* Provide EHS data where available to enable customers to meet their CSR requirements.
* Ensure that EHS data is reported accurately and on a timely basis to meet internal reporting requirements.
* Work with all Sustainability teams to ensure Mediq Healthcare is proactively managing their environmental commitment and is compliant with Environmental regulations.
* Ensure maintenance is completed in line with legislative requirements and records retained.
* Support control of contractors and permits to work implementation.
* Notify Quality Manager and Head of Quality & Regulatory regarding any non-conformance.
What are we looking for?
You will have a NEBOSH Health & Safety General Certification and experience working with ISO 14001 standards and investigating environmental health and safety incidents.
It would be great if you have:
* Experience in developing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Experience in conducting site inspections and internal audits.
* Good time management and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Flexibility to cover alternative shift patterns.
* Experience in delivering face-to-face training to employees.
* Demonstrates a desire to understand customer needs, listens to what they are saying, and demonstrates awareness of their goals.
