Due to the upcoming recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for an Inpatient Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton in London.
HMP Brixton will be a Category B male prison from April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients' needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse, and early days in custody.
Hours
The site will offer a 24-hour service:
1. Day Shifts: 7.30am to 8.30pm
2. Night Shifts: 8pm to 8am
This position is full-time, and you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £53,134 per annum, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Responsibilities
As an Inpatient Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
1. Working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
2. Undertaking medication rounds, dispensing controlled medication, attending emergency response situations, assessing patients, and undertaking reception screening.
3. Using your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group while being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
4. Contributing to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback so that care is personalized and informed by what matters to them.
5. Delivering non-judgmental care that makes a real difference, as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice competency framework.

Minimum Requirements
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP, and national standards
• Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
