Sugarman Education is delighted to be working alongside Schools in Hackney to recruit a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to support students with Autism. We are committed to providing quality placements that match the right candidates to the right roles, ensuring the best possible outcomes for both students and staff.
Role Overview:
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with Autism in both individual and group settings. You will work alongside class teachers and other support staff to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences tailored to the needs of each student. Your focus will be on providing personalised support to help students manage their emotions, improve communication skills, and participate fully in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support students with Autism both inside and outside the classroom.
2. Work one-on-one with students, providing tailored interventions and support.
3. Assist in the delivery of structured educational activities, adapting them to meet the needs of each student.
4. Implement strategies for positive behaviour management, promoting social and emotional development.
5. Help with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organization.
6. Monitor and track students' progress and support the assessment process.
7. Support students during non-classroom activities such as breaks and outings.
8. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
Skills and Experience:
1. Experience working with children with Autism or Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
2. Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective support strategies.
3. Experience using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual aids is beneficial.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
5. Patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with children.
6. A proactive attitude and a passion for supporting children with additional needs.
7. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) are advantageous.
