The Vacancy
We have a current requirement for a Head of Quality and Environmental to join the business on a full-time permanent basis, the role will be based in our Glasgow office on a hybrid working model. Reporting to the HSEQ Director, you will help shape the route map of WGM's approach to Quality & Environmental strategy and must be able to deliver across all functions to lead the ongoing improvement of our Quality & Environmental culture through effective engagement with all relevant parties.
You will lead, manage and implement environmental change therefore it is necessary that you have a good understanding of environmental legislation and operational requirements relevant to the needs of the business and the sector. With Quality systems and processes at the forefront of your thinking, the successful candidate will offer demonstrable experience of embedding a culture of quality and improvements.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Lead, influence and support the WGM business streams to become process driven, with compliance at the core.
2. Positively influence quality and environmental culture and performance within executive and operational areas across the WGM business.
3. Support the deployment of our quality and environmental management systems and work closely with the operational teams to identify key environmental risks and hazards alongside the development of controls and mitigation strategies.
4. Support HSEQ Director in strategic plans for Quality and Environmental improvement plans and deliverables.
5. Deliver the strategy and provide advice, support and guidance on all aspects of quality.
6. Successfully lead and develop your team, acting as a role model promoting a positive culture by creating an interest and enthusiasm for good quality in all activities.
7. Onboard and train new team members.
8. Ensure compliance with ISO accreditation and BS requirements = ISO9001 and BS1090.
9. Develop internal audit programme and drive audit and inspection schedule for compliance assurance at WGM locations.
10. Develop, implement & monitor business processes and ensure periodic Quality Control checks.
11. Work together with department heads to develop solutions to quality issues.
12. Implement schedule of relevant site/office inspections & collate corresponding KPI's, statistics & trends.
13. Satisfy client expectations regarding business service delivery whilst ensuring Intelligent Quality methodology knowledge, understanding and adherence at site locations.
To be considered for this position you will have at least 5 years previous experience within a similar level managerial role ideally within an engineering or construction environment. You will have excellent working knowledge of quality and environmental systems and procedures and have a good awareness of ISO9001, ISO14001 quality standards. Experience auditing, implementing improvement activities and building a positive culture within a business is essential for the role; travel will be required to various sites so a full UK driving license is essential for the position.
