Te Tūranga - The Role
Are you passionate about developing others and making a meaningful impact in a hands-on, high-tech manufacturing environment? Tait Communications is looking for a Production Trainer to join our Manufacturing team in Christchurch. In this role, you'll play a key part in building a skilled, adaptable, and motivated production workforce by delivering high-quality, targeted training that supports both current and future operational needs.
You'll be responsible for maintaining a fit-for-purpose production training facility, inducting new staff, providing skills development and retraining opportunities, assessing competency, and working closely with team leaders to track and document progress. This is a fantastic opportunity to foster a positive, engaging learning environment and make a real difference in the professional development of others.
The duties of the role will include:
* Conducting inductions for new staff and providing an introduction to E20 Lean processes
* Developing and delivering training aligned with IPC 2 standards
* Training and retraining manufacturing assembly staff in essential skills
* Creating and maintaining training materials and resources
* Identifying new techniques and updating training content accordingly
* Assessing trainee competency and providing progress feedback to managers
* Maintaining skills and capability matrices
* Supporting training needs for new product introductions and across wider Tait teams including customer support staff
* Collaborating with Manufacturing Leaders and HR to evaluate training effectiveness
* Promoting ongoing learning and development opportunities within the team

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in training or manufacturing.
You will also have:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* The ability to engage and motivate others
* A genuine passion for helping others learn and grow
* Excellent organisation and documentation skills
* A positive, proactive attitude
Preferred skills and experience include:
* Previous training experience and ability to develop training materials
* Understanding of manufacturing team dynamics and needs
* High level of skill in assembly processes
* Basic computer proficiency
