The Council has developed a refreshed approach to tacking homelessness via a Homeless Journey, which aims to provide people with support and accommodation to support them andlsquo;from the street to independent livingandrsquo;.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent post for a Temporary Accommodation Officer within a busy Housing Options Team to assist people in moving on in to long term permanent accommodation.
You will be responsible for placements into council led and other Temporary Accommodation (TA) working with homeless households who are accommodated. The successful applicant will also be responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with providers of temporary accommodation to ensure that the necessary level of accommodation is available. You will develop robust support plans and deliver these to households in temporary accommodation to facilitate move on to settled accommodation. You will work closely with Homelessness Reduction Officers, Tenancy Sustainment Officers and other supporting roles.andnbsp;
You will be the first point of contact with households residing in temporary accommodation in all matters relating to the offer of a property to those customers with more complex needs to ensure tenancy sustainment (e.g. Housing Benefit advice, financial capability and support etc. and to actively involve the Housing Service to ensure all relevant information and support is in place to sustain the tenancy at signup).
Applicants should have a passion and experience of working within a housing, homelessness or support related service, have a good understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 specifically duties and temporary accommodation and have experience of supporting vulnerable people, enabling a move to independent living.
Applicants should have experience of creating partnerships with providers of temporary accommodation and private landlords with a good track record of delivering effective solutions for homeless people particularly regarding the use of temporary accommodation.
This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
