Job overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 6 Nurse to join our dynamic Acute Medical Unit (AMU) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take on greater responsibility in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, where you will play a pivotal role in managing patient care and ensuring smooth patient flow.
As a Band 6 Nurse in the AMU, you will oversee the care of patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide timely, effective care. You will be responsible for coordinating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring high-quality care is maintained throughout the patient’s journey.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 on AMU, you will play a key role in coordinating patient flow and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients with complex, high-acuity needs. You will be responsible for identifying patients requiring multidisciplinary team (MDT) reviews and those needing transfer to other departments.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with the NMC
* Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
* Willingness to participate in further professional development and training
* Qualification or training in acute care, clinical leadership, or a related specialty
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience as a Band 5 nurse in an acute setting (e.g., acute medicine, critical care, emergency department).
* Proven ability to manage complex patient caseloads, including acutely ill patients.
