European Road Freight Supervisor
Full Time / Permanent / 08.30 – 17.30 Mon-Fri
Occasional out of hours work will be required (being on call every now and again).

We are in search of an individual who has dedicated a minimum of five years to this specialism. The perfect candidate will boast a profound understanding of European Road Freight, coupled with extensive business acumen and an energetic pace of work.

Main Purpose
To further develop our standard European road freight offering with existing and new customers and to increase business from existing, lapsed and recently gained clients. Offer our customers excellent customer service to ensure repeat business.
You will be responsible for the team’s delivery of operational activities, in accordance with targets set, to contribute to achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, reaching targets/KPIs set year on year.
Overall Responsibility and targets
Manage the completion of important daily operation tasks and look after all customers that book standard European road freight (groupage, part and full loads) to and from Europe. Build and nurture good working relationships with existing and new customers.
Operations
* Ensure that productivity and profitability goals for the team are met.
* Have a fundamental understanding of our operational systems.
* Work flexibly, predominantly in the office but with potential for external client visits.
* Provide local/external market conditions feedback on the European road freight industry to the Operations Director.
* Utilise Top 10 Accounts report to evaluate the development of your departmental client base.
* Quoting, covering and inputting a range of standard European road freight shipments on our TMS.
* Work closely with the European Express dept to ensure that the customer receives the right level of service.
* Obtain prices and solutions for standard European road freight business.
* Use of carrier portals, freight exchanges and other relevant software.
* Close monitoring of live shipments and problem solving.
* Ensure effective use of our CRM on our new TMS.
* Identify new sales opportunities for existing customers.
* Logging quotes and pro-actively chasing them to convert to shipments.
* Liaising with our customs dept to complete customs documentation.
* Proactively liaising with customers, agents and suppliers.
Service Development
* Develop supplier/haulier relationships to ensure best rates and service.
* Help to source new suppliers/hauliers.
* Participate in regular sales and departmental team meetings.
* Assist in marketing activity to promote the service.
* Visit existing clients to further develop and strengthen relationships.
Skills & experience required
* Knowledge of standard European road freight quotations, pricing, facilitation.
* Knowledge of European customs.
* Good overall knowledge of the European road freight industry.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Flexibility, adaptability, and quick thinking.
* Good drive and positive energy.
* Language skills are an advantage.
