Express Recruitment are proud to be working with a highly reputable education establishment, who have announced further expansion of their estates portfolio. Our client is looking for a suitably qualified Health & Safety Advisor on an initial 6-month contract.
The successful candidate will need a full driving license and transport as they will be tasked with attending various district sites.
In return, you will receive an annual salary of £42,000 (pro rata).
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the wider HSE team in driving continuous improvements across the portfolio of estates and ensure full compliance in adherence with regulatory estates frameworks.
* Perform internal and external audits, maintenance facilities inspections and risk assessments.
* Act as main point of contact in Estates, providing frequent guidance and support to departmental leads and wider estates department.
* Work closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance to identify skills and knowledge gaps within the team and plan appropriate training programs.
* Take ownership of CDM regulatory management duties, ensuring the organisation is in full compliance with regulations.
* Assist in the roll out of diarised toolbox talks and regulatory updates relating to Health & Safety.
* Ensure briefings to all external construction workers/contractors are carried out pre-build to ensure they are aware of risk and compliance regulations and safeguarding legislation.
* Ensure all contractors possess permits to work on site prior to work engagement.
* Carry out full site inspections on fire and security systems, HV/LV systems, PAT testing, scaffolding, LOLER, PUWER and water hygiene systems to prevent Legionella, highlighting potential risks or safety breaches to Head of Risk & Compliance and Head of Estates.
Qualifications & Experience
* NEBOSH Diploma or degree qualified in relevant Health & Safety field.
* IOSH certified highly advantageous.
* Demonstrable experience in providing professional risk guidance within relatable organisations on subjects relating to fire safety, asbestos, legionella, construction and chemical safety.
* Certified ISO:9001 internal & external auditor desirable but time served experience considered.
* Proven experience in delivering toolbox talks and associated training workshops on Health & Safety topics.
* In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations 2015 act.
* Experience dealing with contractors and work permits.
* Legionella Awareness Certificate holder preferable but not essential.
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior management leads and key stakeholders.
* Holder of UK driving license and own transport.
Hours: Full Time, Monday–Friday, 39 Hours
Salary: Up to c£42,000 per annum D.O.E.
