Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing’s Skilled Shop Floor Team have been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our client, Orchid Orthopedic, based in the heart of Sheffield’s manufacturing community.
Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing for the orthopedic and medical device markets, including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities, and dental. With 10 world-class facilities located around the globe, Orchid continues to provide others an opportunity to live longer, more active lives through their products and services.
They currently have a Goods in and dispatch operative position available. Although experience in these areas would be an advantage, they are also looking for enthusiastic individuals from other industries who may have transferable skills relevant to the role.
Position: Forge Press Operative
Hours: 39 hours per week
Working Hours: 3 shift pattern (mornings/afternoons and nights)
Hourly Rate: £16.15 - £16.88ph + Shift allowance
Overtime: Paid at time and ½ after 39 hours
Responsibilities:
1. Forging – using knowledge of press controls and the setting of press tools to produce accurate and consistent products.
2. Conversant with the safe operation of furnaces, including the setting of digital controls.
3. Inspect forging for defects and take corrective action where required.
4. Correct identification of raw materials and separation of scrap material.
5. Following instructions of works orders and drawings.
6. All ancillary operations connected with the production including:
1. Saw operation
2. Material movement
3. Inter-stage linishing
4. Shotblasting
5. Glassing
Experience:
1. Work as part of a team, adopting a positive attitude to both work and colleagues, to achieve the required production targets and output, including the need to work outside normal working hours.
2. Be able to complete all paperwork associated with both production and timekeeping.
3. Willingness to be trained to suit company requirements.
4. Ensure all H&S rules are adhered to and maintain a safe environment, both in relation to your own work area and that of the factory.
5. Maintain a clean, tidy work environment always.
6. Adhere to all process work instructions, customer specifications, quality policy, and company directives.
7. Maintain good time keeping and attendance.
8. Display a flexible attitude to work being prepared to transfer to other areas as the work dictates.
9. Flexibility to work shifts, which may include nights.
10. A good understanding and able to interpret drawings and use measuring equipment.
11. Training can be provided, although experience is welcomed.
