Berkshire Community Dental Service (CDS) provides high quality dental care for a wide spectrum of people who are unable to access care in general dental practice.Weprovidea comprehensive range of oral health care services for priority groups that may include people with learning difficulties, physical handicaps, mental health problems, medically compromised, severe anxiety or phobias.
The care is provided in a variety of settings across Berkshire including dental clinics, schools and daycentres, Dental AccessCentres,secure mental health establishmentsand hospitals. Services include inhalation sedation, intra-venoussedationand generalanaesthetic. Domiciliary care is also provided in care, residential and nursinghomesand private residences. The service also provides OralHealthEducation and Epidemiology.
BHFT has developed a quality management improvement systemQMISwhichgives staff the tools and creates a culture where everyone can make small continuous improvements to theobjectivesthat are meaningful to their service.It is anticipated that the Chief Dentist will work to embed this within the service.
Full time role with flexible working opportunity from different sites across Berkshire. Base is at Skimped Hill Health Centre, Bracknell.
• Provide visible leadership that delivers high quality services for patients,recognisingthedifferent needsacross geographical areas.
• Will have service budget responsibility and achieve excellent financial and non-financial performance across the service.
• Meet the full range of service activity targets, achieving full compliance against a wide range of quality indicators.

The “must haves” for this role:
• FullGDC registration
• Experience of working in a Community Dental Service
• Experience in management or leadership of a locality or specialised area of clinical service
• Experience of the planning and management ofsignificant changeand innovation with demonstrable results
• Experience of working with clinicians and healthcare workers at a strategic level
• Experience of managing budgets & procurement
