The main functions of this post are to carry out mechanical maintenance and repair and related Planned Preventative Maintenance, Breakdown Maintenance and diagnosing and repair of Building and engineering services.
Main duties of the job
* This post requires a person who can fit into a flexible, reactive and demanding department, carrying out a variety of duties of great importance to the Trust.
* You will be required to work alongside other disciplines in the Trust, and it is essential that you are courteous, well-mannered, and professional at all times, and have the ability to communicate well with others.
* Work as a team member with Estates managers to provide mechanical support.
* Liaise with wards and departments on service interruptions and shut downs.

Qualifications
* Recognised & registered Apprenticeship.
* City & Guilds / NVQ 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting or equivalent.
* Multi-skill qualification i.e., NVQ level 1 or 2 in another trade or a multi-skill qualification.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Post qualification of experience working as a Fitter.
* Provide own hand tools relevant to trade. Specialist tools provided by the Trust.
* Current full driving licence.
* Experience of working in an Acute Hospital/Healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of various Health & Safety Legislation as applicable to core trade.
* Awareness of Health and Safety in a maintenance environment.
* Knowledge of COSHH.
* Experience of working on a range of systems i.e., Heating, Ventilation, Hot & Cold Water Systems.
* Experience of working on Steam Systems.
Skills & Abilities
* Use own initiative.
* Communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have a good level of written and verbal English skills.
* Working in a team.
* Capable of Working in a demanding service line.
* Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Availability for on call duties (30-minute response time).
