Senior Engineer – Mechanical role:
• Reporting to the Principal Engineer, Design Managers, Technical Discipline Lead and the Regional Discipline Lead, the role includes creating cost-effective design layouts for water and sewage treatment plants and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Senior Engineer – Mechanical responsibilities:
• Develop cost-effective design layouts that align with specification requirements and facilitate efficient construction and commissioning.
• Production and checking of all design deliverables including Specifications, Schedules, drawings and calculations.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to develop a 3D model of the site/plant.
• Deliver the design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale and budget.
• Coordinate design outputs across all technical disciplines.
• Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department.
• Establish working relationships with construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of procedures and processes.
• Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
• Foster a culture that prioritises customer satisfaction as essential to meeting all objectives, recognizing customers as both end users and internal departments.
• Maintain a personal development plan while supervising and supporting staff development.
• Minimise waste in all departmental activities and ensure designs consider environmental impacts.
• Ensure that designs fully comply with CDM 2015 Regulations and all relevant health and safety requirements.
Senior Engineer – Mechanical requirements:
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles including structures, materials, hydraulics and environmental engineering.
• Experienced in managing and mentoring staff in the design of discipline-specific aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.
• Hold or be nearing chartered membership in a professional institution.
• Relevant Engineering HND (Minimum).
• Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
• Strong general knowledge of all facets of water treatment, including mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, and project management.
• Working knowledge of roles and responsibility under CDM 2015 Regulations.
• Practical knowledge of industry standards (BS, WIMES, BSRIA, etc.), HSE regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR 2000, DSEAR, etc.), The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (Reg 31), and Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) guidelines.
• Driving license.
• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (Preferred).
