We have an opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Workplace team in Newcastle working with partners Catherine Wilkinson and Emma Gruschka. We work flexibly and encourage applicants from the Hunter region and outside the region to apply. Our technology and way of working lets us do this.
About the team and the work
* Join a highly regarded, inclusive team who pride themselves on resolving a range of workplace matters for clients in diverse sectors, including mining, transport, financial services, insurance, health care, and all levels of government.
* You will advise and represent employers on the management of workplace issues including unfair dismissals, general protections claims, discrimination claims, bullying, and harassment. The ideal candidate would have some experience in workplace safety.
* Work on matters before various courts and tribunals with many opportunities to appear before different courts and tribunals and advise on internal and external investigations.
* Truly collaborative, you will work with our national team as well as engage with other practice groups to achieve cohesive outcomes.
* Given the exceptional client relationships this team has, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills working onsite with clients due to regular secondment opportunities.

About you
* At least 6+ years’ experience with a strong understanding of workplace law; some understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act is desirable.
* Your experience will include having full carriage of matters and extend to dealing with a range of files for employers including the management of disciplinary issues, unfair dismissals, and assisting in responding to safety incidents.
