The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Group Financial Controller will be a key part of the Senior Leadership Team and will have responsibility for managing and leading the finance function across the Corston Group. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in a period of dynamic growth and change. Your role will involve enhancing finance systems, controls, and processes to ensure timely and accurate financial activities, delivery of Group Management accounts and financial reporting to support company growth.
Responsibilities:
* Managing, motivating and leading the finance team, providing helpful feedback when needed.
* Overseeing the preparation of the monthly consolidated Group management accounts.
* Scrutinising financial reports and data for discrepancies and accuracy.
* Maintaining up-to-date balance sheet accuracy and performing reconciliations.
* Preparation of year-end accounts and supporting schedules, liaising with external auditors.
* Ensuring accuracy in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.
* Managing finance systems and processes, ensuring proper recording and reporting of financial transactions.
* Collaborating with the senior leadership team on reporting and ad hoc requests.
* Overseeing cash flow management and internal reporting.
* Overseeing the management and preparation of monthly payroll.
* Handling statutory returns, HMRC, and Office of National Statistics submissions.
* Ensuring business compliance with all tax and other financial legislation globally.
* Reviewing and developing financial systems to ensure processes are efficient.
Requirements:
* Experience of implementing financial controls, processes and reporting.
* At least 3 years experience as a qualified accountant.
* A hands-on approach, well-organised with attention to detail.
* Willingness to take on diverse duties as required.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Strong technical accounting with some IT skills.
* Good planning and organisational skills.
* Proven ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines and manage monthly tasks and reports.
* Strong commercial acumen and communication skills.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Effective team management and problem-solving abilities.
