My client, a well-established manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Power Press Setter Operator to support their growing operations at their Deeside facility.Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications:PUWER Power Press Certificate(Essential)
Engineering apprenticeship in metal cutting or fabrication(Desirable)
Proven experience in setting and operating power presses within a high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Knowledge of basic measuring tools such as vernier calipers
Confident working independently and as part of a team
Awareness and commitment to Health & Safety practices
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
Experience with hydraulic press setting
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and involvement in process improvement initiatives
PC skills including Excel, Access and ERP systems
Previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role
Forklift or overhead crane certification
Role Overview:As a Power Press Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating a range of power presses, metal forming and cutting machinery to produce standard and bespoke fixings. This hands-on role involves working within a high-volume production environment, supporting both primary and secondary manufacturing processes to ensure customer specifications are met with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:Competently set and operate power presses and associated machinery to produce components in line with production schedules
Perform changeovers and tool exchanges using SMED principles
Monitor production for quality, tool life and equipment performance, reporting any issues to the Shift Supervisor
Follow lean manufacturing and 5S principles to maintain a safe, organised and efficient workspace
Safely handle, store and transfer products and materials across production areas
Complete accurate data entry using ERP systems and maintain appropriate production records
Carry out regular maintenance checks on machinery and report issues promptly
Adhere to all quality standards including in-process and final inspections
Comply with all Health & Safety policies and PUWER regulations, maintaining good housekeeping at all times
