An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within our Medical Assessment Unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital. This role is key in the ongoing development of this service and in supporting the staff, ensuring high quality patient care is delivered. We are aiming to recruit a senior experienced nurse who will provide strong professional and clinical leadership skills to manage the department and the MAU staff. The post holder will be expected to make improvements to standards of care through supervision, audit, evidence based practice, dealing with complaints and initiating outcomes from patient feedback. Staff management alongside this will include appraisals, staff development, rota management and recruitment and governance to ensure the team is meeting all targets. Hours per week: 37.5 Main duties of the job The post holder will be the senior nurse accountable and responsible for the management, leadership, and development of service within their specified area. They will ensure that care delivery is of the highest quality and is evidence based, proactively facilitating a person centered approach to patient care ensuring effective, collaborative partnership working. They will provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in the clinical area to which staff; patients and their relatives can turn for assistance, advice, and support. As Team Leader, the post holder carries responsibility for assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care without supervision and the setting of standards of care including the deployment and supervision and training and education of staff and students allocated to their area. The post holder will support, assist, and contribute towards the achievement of departmental and business unit objectives, ensuring continuity of service provision and professional standards are maintained within the clinical governance and financial frameworks of the organisation.
