CHRYSALIS RAIL COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Chrysalis Rail specialise in train (rolling stock) refurbishment, re-paint, repair, modification, and heavy maintenance projects. Chrysalis Rail operates across the UK at client’s sites and at our two rail sites: Long Marston, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Landore, Swansea. Our head office is based in Crewe where our central business functions are based.
ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Project Manager to join our team at the Chrysalis Rail project delivery site in Long Marston. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing various projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to an excellent quality. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of project management methodologies. The Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement.
MAIN DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be responsible for the successful delivery of rolling stock improvement projects ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget and to an excellent quality. To be the project lead and manage all aspects of the project delivery at site level from contract award to successful completion of the project. To undertake regular project reviews internally with the project team and with the customer to monitor project performance. To manage project execution plans, work record books and any other pertinent documentation required for project delivery and recording purposes. To liaise with production management and teams of artisan staff on site to deliver rail refurbishment, overhaul and repair activities to the customer specification and delivery timelines. To engage and liaise with external third-party suppliers, on site customers, visitors and other business stakeholders where necessary to ensure on time project delivery and visibility to all parties involved. To work cross-functionally with other in-house departments such as procurement, operations and engineering teams to ensure quality, cost and delivery goals are met. To manage the project budget including all materials and staffing costs and be confident in regularly reporting to Operations Director, Projects Director and other senior management when required. To supply the appropriate project information to, and participate in, internal and external audits, customer commercial reviews and BSI audit inspections where required. To ensure that all work record books, documentation and safety certification from the site is completed to the required standards and inputted into the company quality management systems. To ensure that all safety and quality processes are observed personally and by all team members and visitors on site. To work in conjunction with HR to ensure that employee records, training files and relevant certifications are up to date and re-fresher training for the team is planned in accordingly. To work alongside depot management, production managers and artisan staff to maintain a safe and tidy workshop to ensure all tasks are completed to the highest quality within the production deadlines set To adhere to all occupational policies and procedures whilst working for Chrysalis Rail, including compliance to drugs and alcohol policies. To ensure that all work is efficiently planned, controlled and undertaken in a safe manner to the standards set by Chrysalis Rail.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering background or hold relevant qualifications e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in engineering or business management field Qualifications in project management, business management or associated fields e.g. PRINCE2, business undergraduate degree Previous project management experience preferably gained within the rail or similar industries Knowledge of the repair and refurbishment of railway rolling stock and multi-unit fleets. Prior experience in the planning, design and on-going delivery of projects within the rail industry is advantageous Previous experience in customer-facing roles representing the company to clients and other important business stakeholders is also required Confidence to report and communicate effectively to senior leadership and customer representatives Ability to lead a team to deliver a project safely, on time and to budget Ability to work as part of a team Great attention to detail A willingness to assist with wider operational tasks and to learn and undertake training in new skills/ assist in the coaching of others Ability to work under own initiative whilst being aware of the larger team and all elements of the project process to ensure the highest quality of finish and on time delivery Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks when required. Good judgement and decision making Ability to read and interpret industry drawings and specifications as required.

Chrysalis Rail offer a pay rate in line with experience and industry standards.
