The Role:
As the range of projects that they work on grow, so does their team! We are currently looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their R&D department. In this role, you will conceptualise and deliver the mechanical design of SMT printing machines and the associated modules.
You will:
1. Develop new designs, processes or systems based on new or evolving technology.
2. Carry out complex and/or nonstandard technical analyses.
3. Conduct technical risk analysis and identify mitigation measures.
4. Take an active role in the identification and definition of project requirements, problems, and opportunities.
5. Identify the appropriate investigations and research needed to undertake the design, development and analysis required to complete an engineering task and conduct these activities effectively.
6. Implement design solutions, taking account of critical constraints, including due concern for safety, sustainability, and disposal or decommissioning, as well as scalability and maintainability.
7. Lead and assist others to meet changing technical and managerial needs.
8. Exchange information and provide advice to technical and non-technical colleagues.
9. Lead, chair, contribute, and record meetings and discussions.
10. Prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation on complex matters.
11. Prepare proposals or studies, identifying, agreeing, and leading work towards collective goals.
12. Understand the safety implications of the role and manage, apply, and improve safe systems of work.
13. Carry out and record the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence.
About You:
You Will Have:
1. Master’s Degree in a technical discipline / equivalent level 7 qualification with mid-level experience, or Bachelor’s Degree Level 6 qualification with senior level experience, or Chartered Engineer with mid-level experience.
2. High level understanding of the functional interdependencies of dynamic mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems.
3. Proven experience in the definition, design, and assembly of manufacturing processes, costs, and geometric tolerances.
4. Good knowledge of NX CAD tool or similar and EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
5. High level knowledge of BS8888 and/or ISO8015.
6. Good knowledge of the product creation and change management processes.
7. Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
8. DFM and DFA knowledge.
9. Knowledge of SAP (Desirable).
10. FEA static linear analysis skills (Desirable).
