SEN Learning Support Assistant
This term time only role is for 30 hours per week Monday-Friday (8.45am to 3.15pm with 30 minutes lunch break daily)
St Clare's Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant. Working as part of a small team, you will need to be calm, kind, flexible and dedicated. A genuine love of working with children is essential.
The successful applicant will:
Have experience in supporting pupils with needs such as Learning Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Physical & Medical Needs.
Have a good understanding of the Early Years and Primary curriculum
Be enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative
Be compassionate and patient
Be able to work in partnership with SENCO, CT & external agencies
Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and interact with them according to individual needs
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
Hold at least an A - C pass in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
The successful applicant would be expected to:
Assist with the development and implementation of One Plans/EHCPs
Monitor and record pupil responses and learning
To supervise the pupil for limited and specific periods including break times
To support the students with their intimate care
To assist with escorting the pupil on educational visits
Use initiative and contribute to creating a stimulating and purposeful learning environment.
Work in partnership with other teaching assistants
Encourage independence and promote self-confidence
Support the class teacher where necessary in planning differentiated work for the pupil
Create simple resources to support the pupil's work, as appropriate
Attend INSET days and training as identified by the Headteacher
