Job Summary
We are looking for a confident clinical specialist nurse to work within the North Yorkshire & York (NY&Y) eating disorder service, specifically in the Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale (SWR) locality. We are interested in connecting with people who can inspire, embrace working as equal partners with internal and external stakeholders, help to design, support and oversee the delivery of the very best care and treatment for local people with eating disorders.
Applicants should be a registered nurse with excellent knowledge of mental health services from across the community system, including primary care, specialist services, local authority & the voluntary and community sector (VCSE).
Main Duties of the Job
The successful post holder will provide specialist advice, guidance, training, therapeutic support, and consultation as part of the multidisciplinary adult eating disorders service. This includes direct provision to service users using governed psychological intervention, proactive physical health care intervention and monitoring. Contributing to formulation of a service user's need and creating evidence-based plans. Consultation to team colleagues and external health and care professionals working with people with eating disorders, and contributing to service development, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives for the support and services for people with disordered eating.
Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Job Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively, assuming an active leadership role in the establishment of partnerships and networks with key stakeholders across the wider mental health care system (including people with experience of eating disorders, their families and carers, primary care networks, social care, VCSE, social prescribers, and peer support workers, etc.), creating a culture of partnership between people and services, promoting clear communication and improved access to specialist advice, knowledge, and skills.
You will contribute to increasing community awareness of the presentation and prevalence of eating disorder in local populations; using this insight and intelligence to inform future investment decisions as part of community transformation and the NHS Long-Term Plan.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience Essential
* Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD
* Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
* Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
* Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years
* Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g. Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy/NMP (Independent Prescriber)
* Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
* Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
* Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
* Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
* Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Quality improvement activities
Knowledge Essential
* Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
* Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
* Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
* Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
* Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
* Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
* Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
Experience Essential
* 3 years experience working at band 6 or above in a leadership role
