Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Manager - Southern Water Location: Hampshire, Sussex, Kent (This position requires travel across Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire, and the successful candidate must be willing to visit various sites on the Southern Water estate.) Salary: £28.21 per hour Working Hours : 9 am to 5 pm Contract : 17/03/2025 to 16/05/2029 Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting Client's capabilities and fostering business growth. Ensure operational, safety, environmental, people, and financial targets are met. Oversee resource management to ensure efficient service delivery, including management of 3rd party suppliers and contract support teams. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and integrate eco-friendly practices into operations. Manage audits, compliance assurance, and non-conformances across your area of responsibility. Develop and implement standard operating procedures to increase productivity and ensure consistent service delivery. Ensure statutory compliance and a safety-first culture across all teams and contractors. Support employee development, including talent management and succession planning. Manage invasive non-native species (INNS) and promote biodiversity across sites. Collaborate with the contract management team on on-call escalations. Essential Skills & Experience: Strong leadership experience in a 24/7 service environment, with a focus on operational, financial, environmental, and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) management. Proven track record in delivering environmental initiatives and managing large budgets (c£5m). Strong analytical, planning, and execution skills, particularly in PPM and reactive service environments. Excellent customer relationship management and the ability to influence and develop teams. Experience with CAFM systems, Power BI, SAP, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint. A background in ecology and biodiversity, with the ability to integrate these practices into day-to-day operations. Desirable Skills & Experience: Experience working within critical environments or with national/local utilities. Contract management experience, including managing third-party suppliers. Formal qualifications in leadership, environmental management, or relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
