The Person
You will be a strong team player, working alongside the general manager, senior management team, department heads and associated staff. You should be a professional communicator and influencer, a people person, proactive, enthusiastic, friendly, and confident, with the ability to interact with people at all levels.
The Role
Daily Duties will Include:
1. Leading the site Engineering teams, working to ensure all business and departmental objectives and KPIs are achieved.
2. Budget planning, managing finances and costs related to engineering maintenance, energy, utilities and water, facilities management, projects, labour, contracts, and consumables.
3. Driving through environmental and/or energy efficiency projects.
4. Minimising downtime and leading the engineering team to investigate root cause analysis (RCA) and address recurring faults and engineering issues.
5. Ensuring adherence to key metrics, site compliance, standards, and regulations, including but not limited to health & safety, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), food quality, and budgets.
6. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, best practice, and a centre of excellence, always looking for new and more efficient ways of working.
7. Driving through changes.
8. Offering a collaborative approach, able to work closely with colleagues across other departments to achieve business goals.
9. Adhering to cleaning-in-place systems (CIP).
10. Attending training and developing courses, as appropriate.
Management:
1. Managing a team of engineers, to include, but not limited to, deputy engineering manager, senior project engineers, site bakery engineers and apprentices.
2. Organising engineering colleagues’ workloads and call-out rotas.
3. Managing rota, call outs, holiday, health and welfare and the training and development of all engineering personnel.
4. Supervising staff performance and behaviours, time, and attendance.
5. Assisting with the recruitment of personnel.
6. Providing leadership and direction to personnel, ensuring that they are trained, managed, supported, engaged, focused, and delivering their potential.
7. Ensuring operational excellence within your area of responsibility for labour management and performance.
8. Supporting active staff involvement, aligned towards employee engagement.
9. Monitoring employee absences, capability and performance issues, grievances, approving holidays, and shift patterns.
10. Communicating fully with your team, including the daily tasks and requirements.
11. Ensuring your staff have acceptable personal hygiene cleanliness standards and are wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Experience of working as a Site Engineering Manager or similar – essential.
2. Experience of working within a fast-food manufacturing environment – essential.
3. Experience of managing a diverse workforce. Strong leadership skills, able to coach, mentor and develop teams - essential.
4. Experience of working as an electrical or mechanical engineer, within an industrial setting - essential.
5. A minimum level 3 qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (NVQ, City and Guilds, HND or equivalent) - essential.
6. Apprentice trained - essential.
7. A management qualification - essential.
