University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
A rare secondment/fixed term opportunity has become available for a NMC registered Band 5 Nurse to join our Imaging Interventional Team at the Royal Derby Hospital.
These posts are to cover maternity and are a fantastic opportunity to learn some specialist skills and join our on-call team, during the 12 month secondment.
Ideally you will have demonstrable post qualification experience but we will consider newly qualified nurses who are motivated and have a willingness to learn. We will also consider those requesting full or part time work.
You will need to get permission from your department head before accepting a secondment with us.
We have a varied case load which includes interventional vascular, interventional ultrasound, CT biopsies and combined theatre cases, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. We will also be a key part of the new Hybrid Theatre Suite at the Royal Derby Hospital which will provide you with excellent experience within a highly skilled team.
A structured mentor led training programme will be given and it is anticipated this should take between 3-6 months. We are committed to developing our staff and your knowledge. There are opportunities to attend local and national training courses and meetings, including ILS.
Main duties of the job
Your role within the Imaging Department will vary daily, from scrubbing and assisting radiologists in procedures to supporting patients before, during and after their treatment. We also have our own day case unit where we admit and discharge patients. We expect high quality patient care and an ability to help organise and manage workload.
This role is predominantly Monday to Friday with a working day between 8am to 6pm however there is a requirement to participate in our 24/7 on-call roster which covers emergency interventional procedures.
You will take an active part to develop our non-nursing colleagues and ensure best practice in your areas of expertise. Alongside this we regularly accept nursing, radiography and medical students into the interventional radiology department as part of their training.
