Main Purpose of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Childcare Supervisor at Blair Kids Club term-time and during holiday periods.
This role involves assisting in the day-to-day running of the services and deputising in the absence of the Childcare Supervisor. You will support the Childcare Supervisor to plan and organise the operations of the service to provide flexible childcare to children aged Primary 1 - 14 years after school.
You will assist in providing high-quality care and a comprehensive range of stimulating and creative activities, such as arts and crafts, storytelling, den building, physical play, and organising trips and outings appropriate to the needs and interests of the children.
As a member of the Kids Club Team and wider School Team, you will contribute to children's learning and development within a safe and inclusive environment. A flexible approach to working conditions is required; the contracted hours are 18 hours per week, between 2.30pm - 6pm, on a rota basis during holiday periods and in-service days.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for an individual with experience in early learning or a childcare environment and a good knowledge of childcare and the relevant governing bodies (SSSC, Care Inspectorate).
The role is child-focused, requiring sensitivity, patience, and compassion, along with a welcoming approach to generate trust and safety for children and their families.
A genuine interest in the development and wellbeing of children is essential, along with qualities such as kindness, sensitivity, respectfulness, and good manners. Confidentiality must be respected.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent planning and organisation skills, the ability to maintain office procedures and systems, and establish effective working relationships with children, parents, carers, and other professionals.
No qualifications are required to apply for the position; however, you will be required to work towards a Practitioner qualification, such as an SVQ level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or an HNC in Childhood Practice. You must also register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting employment.
