We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious, dynamic individual to join our committed and well integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high standard care to the local community. This will be a full-time, substantive post (10 Programmed Activities).
The CotE team at FGH consists of 4 substantive CotE/Stroke physicians who are based on the 36 bedded elderly care/general medicine /stroke ward and who also in reach to the ED for front door Frailty and stroke assessments, orthopaedics and the 20 bedded community ward.
Consultants are supported by 3 ACP's in Frailty, Nurse Consultant and 5 ACP's in stroke, front door and stroke therapy support also.
Those with sub-specialty training in stroke medicine will be encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic physician to join the Care of the Elderly Team at Furness General Hospital.
The post holder would be expected to share in the duties above to allow for expansion of services including Virtual ward to support the increasing number of elderly patients attending FGH.
There is an active Day Hospital at FGH where daily clinics including Falls/TIA/General medicine are carried out.
This is a full time (10PA) post incorporating on call and personal SPA time.

Person specification
Qualifications/Skills
* Full registration with the General Medical Council MRCP or equivalent.
* Certificate of completion in specialist training (CCT) in general internal medicine (GIM) and geriatric medicine or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview.
* MD or PhD degree
Experience
* Broad exposure to medical diseases and the management of these
* Comprehensive patient management, ability to train/supervise junior medical staff and medical students
