Job Overview
Our Client, a high voltage electrical and civil engineering company, is a NERS-accredited Independent Connect Provider (ICP), capable of delivering Contestable Works up to 132kV and National Grid projects up to 132kV.
The Electrical Site Construction Supervisor role requires a strong technical background in LV & HV electrical systems, along with the necessary qualifications. This role will support the Project Manager in supervising and delivering electrical tasks on Our Client's projects.
Main Duties include:
1. Drawings & Specifications: Familiarize with and ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications (e.g., DNO, G81). Liaise with Our Client's design team as needed.
2. Site Supervision of Electrical Works: Oversee the installation of various electrical systems, including:
1. Commonly used wiring and accessories.
2. Low and high voltage electrical installations.
3. Mechanical fitting and assembly tasks related to HV switchgear (e.g., multicore cabling, tray work, conduit).
4. Installation of ancillary equipment such as meters, instruments, relays, and protection devices.
5. Substation earthing (both above and below ground) for compounds and containerized substations.
6. Ducting and cabling (above and below ground).
7. Testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical installation equipment.
3. Communication: Maintain timely and effective communication with Our Client's team members, suppliers, and subcontractors.
4. Programme of Works: Provide updates to the Project Manager on completed tasks to support the Programme schedule.
5. Street Works Compliance: Ensure compliance with Sect 50 of the NRSWA Act for any street works.
6. NJUG Compliance: Follow NJUG guidelines as applicable.
7. Management of Subcontractors and Suppliers: Adhere to Our Client's subcontractor/supplier processes, produce scope of works, liaise with the Commercial team, and review T&Cs and RAMS as required.
What They Are Looking For:
1. 5+ years of experience in the electrical industry, specifically with LV/HV installations (HV experience is essential), including switchgear, transformers, generators, and substations.
2. Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
3. Knowledge of current electrical industry standards, processes, and procedures.
4. Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to construction sites (including CDM, HSE-specific guidance such as HSG 47).
5. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
6. Experience in electrical installations up to 132kV (preferred but not essential).
7. Familiarity with DNO G81, Sect 50, SAP, and/or DNO authorizations (LV & HV).
Qualifications:
1. City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition of IET wiring regulations
2. Full driving license
3. Emergency first aid certification
4. SMSTS certification
5. Part P Defined Scope & Part P Full Scope
6. City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Building & Structures)
7. C&G 2391 - Periodic Inspection & Electrical Testing
8. NSWRA Street Works Supervisor certification
9. Fire Warden training
