An opportunity has arisen to join our Technical Services Team, maintaining our fire appliances, cars, and equipment to ensure our dedicated firefighters arrive safely and efficiently to incidents across the County Durham and Darlington area. Based at our Technical Services Centre in Bowburn, County Durham, you will have the opportunity to work across the Durham and Darlington area carrying out the inspection, repair and maintenance of the Services fleet of vehicles and associated operational equipment.
Candidates must have considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, mainly HGV’s and possess a recognised apprenticeship/qualification in heavy goods vehicle maintenance with City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 Craft studies (or Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent relevant qualification).
Applications are also welcomed from candidates that are currently working in the PSV industry with relevant experience for the HGV industry.
The successful candidate will also be required to participate in the standby rota system, which is shared fairly between 7 technicians and for which you will receive allowance and callout payments.
The ideal candidate will live in the County Durham and Darlington area, or as close as possible due to the requirements to respond to callouts outside of normal working hours.
Although CDDFRS provide specialist tools, PPE and uniform, the successful candidate is required to provide their own hand tools. CDDFRS also pay a monthly tool allowance.

3. Aerial appliance operation training
4. Volvo manufacture training
5. HGV vehicle inspection techniques training
6. Equipment maintenance training
