We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Clinical Effectiveness Officer to support and oversee audit activities, clinical guideline development and the application of NICE guidance within the Corporate Clinical Effectiveness Team. In this role, you will work closely with the Clinical Effectiveness Lead and Head of Quality Outcomes to enhance the quality of care across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and oversee audit activities within the Corporate Clinical Effectiveness Team as directed by the Clinical Effectiveness Lead and Head of Quality Outcomes.
• Assist in action planning and evaluating outcomes from clinical audits, clinical guidelines, NICE guidelines, and quality improvement projects, ensuring that clinicians receive the necessary support and the Trust maintains comprehensive evidence of improvements achieved through the clinical effectiveness portfolio.
• Provide expert advice and support to divisional teams regarding clinical audit projects, clinical guideline development, and the implementation of new and updated NICE guidance, including assistance with data collection and analysis.
• Generate regular reports on all aspects of the clinical effectiveness portfolio for divisional teams, the Corporate Clinical Effectiveness Governance Group, and the wider organization. This reporting will contribute to the delivery and inclusion of data for the Trust's annual Quality Account.
• Support the development, endorsement, and approval of policies and guidelines within the organization as directed by the Clinical Effectiveness Lead.

Job Summary:
The Clinical Effectiveness Officer will support the implementation of the Clinical Effectiveness agenda, including clinical audit, NICE guidance, participation in external best practice initiatives (such as NCEPOD and MBRRACE-UK), and the development of clinical guidelines. This role involves assisting divisions in achieving their annual clinical effectiveness plans and ensuring compliance with both national and local audit requirements. The Coordinator will facilitate the dissemination of learning from audits and oversee the completion of clinical audit cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support and oversee clinical audit activities in designated specialties as outlined by the Clinical Effectiveness Lead.
2. Manage and take full responsibility for the action planning and outcomes of clinical audits, including national, local, and quality improvement projects, ensuring comprehensive evidence of improvements for the Trust.
3. Collaborate with the Clinical Effectiveness Lead and divisional/specialty leads to develop and deliver an annual directorate Clinical Effectiveness Agenda.
4. Develop templates for quality improvement procedures to manage action plans and outcomes effectively.
5. Provide advice and support for individual clinical audit projects, including assistance with data collection design and analysis, and risk assessment processes.
6. Monitor and maintain effective systems for national clinical audit outcomes using the designated database, ensuring timely, accurate, and comprehensive data entry.
7. Produce regular reports on national clinical audit outcomes, including analysis of trends and themes, and contribute to newsletters.
8. Facilitate the complete Audit Cycle by supporting healthcare professionals in planning, analysis, presentation preparation, and report compilation.
9. Ensure the quality and appropriateness of data collection methods.
10. Work with Information Officers to validate data quality prior to analysis.
11. Prioritize clinical audits required to meet external risk standards (e.g., NHS Resolution, CQC, NHSE&I) within the Trust’s Annual Audit Plan.
12. Design, review, and deliver clinical audit training for all staff levels and disciplines.
13. Analyze data and write audit reports as instructed by the Clinical Effectiveness Lead and approved by the relevant audit leads.
14. Contribute audit-related information to divisional or departmental reports and Trust reports.
15. Stay updated on current clinical audit practices and disseminate knowledge to Divisions.
16. Attend divisional/specialty clinical audit and effectiveness meetings to provide advice and relay relevant information to the Governance Team.
17. Coordinate and support pan-hospital projects prioritized by the Trust (e.g., NCEPOD, National Falls Audit).
18. Enter all clinical audit activities and results into the Clinical Audit Project database.
19. Assist healthcare professionals participating in clinical audits with day-to-day advice and support.
20. Collaborate with the R&D department to ensure research projects are not classified as clinical audits.
21. Monitor the quality of clinical audit registrations and assist staff with the registration process.
22. Work with Specialty Clinical Audit Leads to ensure comprehensive knowledge of audits within their areas.
23. Manage coordination and communication for projects crossing specialties/divisions and external organizations.
24. Assist colleagues with data collection forms, advising on interventions for optimal results.
25. Liaise with Trust staff to ensure the efficiency of the Audit Programme and maintain positive relationships.
26. Stay informed about local and national developments impacting Clinical Audit and Effectiveness.
27. Encourage service user involvement in clinical audit and effectiveness projects.
28. Provide necessary data or assistance to the Clinical Effectiveness Lead, including contributions to annual Quality Accounts.
29. Maintain a personal Continuing Professional Development program in clinical audit to enhance skills.
30. Support the registration of published NICE guidance and ensure compliance from divisional clinical staff.
31. Monitor and follow up with divisional colleagues regarding evidence of NICE compliance.
32. Assist in the administration of local clinical guideline publications on the Trust Intranet and websites.
33. Support the administration of Clinical Effectiveness Team's internal publications and intranet usage.
34. Provide support to other Clinical Effectiveness Team members during absences.
35. Utilize IT systems effectively for data collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of results, collaborating with the Analytics and Insight Team.
36. Promote the Trust's Clinical Effectiveness achievements both internally and externally through various channels.
37. Perform any other duties as required by the Associate Director of Quality Governance.
38. Provide administrative support, including preparing agendas, minuting meetings, and maintaining action logs as required.
