Make a Home at Taylor WimpeyJob summary/PurposeThe purpose of the role is to produce quality carpentry installation and construction both 1st and 2nd fix, kitchen units and joist/flooring works. Primary ResponsibilitiesProficient in using electrical and manual equipment. An awareness of safety issues, especially when working at heights. The ability to work in a well organised and accurate way and to work as part of a team and with other tradespeople Can read and interpret working drawings. Ability to solve problems with the use of various materials and methods. The ability to pay close attention to detail and make accurate measurements. Installing floor joists, roof trusses and wall partitions. Fitting interior woodwork e.g. staircases, doors skirting boards, kitchens. Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction. Lay out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible Understanding technical drawings. Conducting site surveys. Creating design drawings, alongside sketches of the work needed and the specifications. Measuring and marking wood according to technical designs. Cutting wood on machines or by hand. Working with suppliers and sub-contractors. Producing cutting lists. Estimating the materials. Conducting quality checks. Producing progress reports for senior managers.
