We are seeking a dynamic educator with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, along with a PGCE in Science. About the Role
As a Science Teacher, you will be instrumental in cultivating students’ scientific knowledge, critical thinking and practical skills across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will deliver engaging, hands-on lessons, inspiring students to explore the wonders of science and apply their learning to real-world contexts. You will be responsible for creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where all students, regardless of ability, are challenged and supported to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare and deliver innovative and engaging Science lessons aligned with the national curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
* Use practical demonstrations, experiments and technology to enhance understanding and engagement.
* Prepare students for GCSE Science examinations, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to excel.
* Promote STEM-related career pathways, inspiring students to consider further education and professions in Science.
* Maintain excellent behaviour management and classroom discipline, fostering a respectful and productive learning atmosphere.
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best teaching practices within the Science department.
* Participate in school-wide initiatives, extracurricular Science clubs and educational trips, encouraging broader engagement with the subject.
Science Teacher requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a PGCE in Science (specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics preferred but not essential).
* A strong understanding of the Science curriculum and an ability to deliver lessons across all three disciplines at KS3 and KS4.
* Previous experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting, either through full-time teaching or school placements (ECTs encouraged to apply).
* A passion for developing students’ scientific knowledge and inquiry skills, making Science both accessible and exciting.
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
* Enthusiasm for incorporating practical experiments, real-world applications and STEM initiatives into teaching.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
