Applications are invited to apply for the above post in the Maternity and Gynaecology Departments at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The department is seeking a capable and motivated doctor who enjoys working in both a District General and tertiary referral service and wishes to effect change and improve care for patients within this service.
This substantive post is to replace the clinical care provided by a long term fixed term consultant appointment.
The successful candidate will join the maternity service which provides general obstetric services to the local population – approximately 7500 women per year are cared for within the Trust. There are also tertiary referral services in fetal and maternal medicine, supported by a Level 3 neonatal unit.
The post is required to support the service for pregnant women living in Oxfordshire, including in the north of the county. This post is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and the Horton Hospital in Banbury. On call will be Maternity only at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
The job plan also includes 1 PA of early pregnancy care and scanning.
The post-holder will also be expected to undertake planned daytime sessions to provide acute obstetric and intrapartum care as part of a consultant team which covers the Delivery Suite, elective caesarean section list and obstetric inpatient wards.
The post holder will participate in a rolling rota of on-call duties of no more frequent than 1:9, currently 1:16 with internal cover (equivalent to 1:12.8 annualised in the worked year). On call duties attract a 3% Band A supplement.
The post holder will manage in-patients at the John Radcliffe Hospital and undertake gynaecology on-call duties of no more frequent than 1:9, paid at a Band A supplement. Some clinics may take place outside of the acute trust and it is anticipated that over time more clinics will be located elsewhere.
The candidate is expected to undertake an all-day C-section list once a week with the maternity team and an antenatal clinic at the Horton Hospital.
