SALES ENGINEER
SANDIACRE, NOTTINGHAM
COMPETITIVE SALARY
Progress Rail is looking to recruit a talented Sales Engineer to deliver real sales growth to the UK business, with particular focus on cast iron and fabricated products. You will be required to develop excellent customer relationships, producing timely and accurate quotes and providing excellent client support to generate further orders. To internally act as the production teams customer, and providing the link between sales and operations, with a focus on delivery to plan, and therefore having influence into the production plan by providing knowledge of customers requirements and the impact of business decisions.
THE ROLE:
As a Sales Engineer you will be required to:
* Nurture and develop Progress Rails client accounts within Cast Iron Products and Track Products cost centres, focusing on future account growth from existing and new clients.
* Develop new customers and markets by understanding their value drivers and bid-winning requirements to identify and convert opportunities into targeted bidding lists.
* Manage key customer relationships, providing bids within legal and commercial directives through accurate cost estimation (materials, labour) for pricing tenders and payment applications.
* Process received orders through the relevant manufacturing control system, ensuring timely updates and expediting for clients.
* Provide technical information and support to clients as needed while liaising internally with Technical, Commercial, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
* Address customer complaints and non-conformance requests to ensure satisfactory resolutions for both the company and the client.
* Develop and present informed market insights to support Progress Rails strategic development, including executing short, medium, and long-term sales plans.
* Set quotas and objectives while achieving annual sales targets for both existing and new business.
* Compile and analyse sales data to produce professional reports, identifying trends, challenges, and risks that may impact market or client growth potential.
* Develop and implement actions to mitigate risks and ensure delivery of strategic business objectives.
* Actively participate in Sales Strategy Meetings, providing insights and reporting to the Senior Management team.
* Apply project management skills to ensure successful delivery of quotations, tenders, and live orders.
* Collaborate with clients, sales colleagues, compliance, legal, supply chain, and operations teams to optimise customer requirements and ensure compliant, feasible estimates and tenders.
* Undertake other duties and tasks as reasonably requested by the company.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Sales Engineer:
* At least 5 years experience in technical sales or estimating in a manufacturing environment.
* Broad engineering background and preferably (but not essential) knowledge of cast iron and fabricated products.
* Ability to listen to customers, assess their needs and develop plans, products and services to meet them.
* Successful experience of defining and deploying sales and marketing strategies for existing key accounts and new products in new markets.
* Ability to understand clients requirements and liaise closely with Engineering and Operation departments to disseminate specification and key deliverable milestones.
* Capable of rapidly learning new technology and engineering concepts.
* Demonstration of Project Management skills to cater for the clients day to day needs and to ensure cross departmental co-operation to provide winning bids.
* Strong time management skills.
* Commercial acumen with ability to interpret and understand commercial documents.
* Strong numeric and literacy skills.
* Possess IT Skills (MS OFFICE, Salesforce).
* UK Drivers License Own car with business insurance.
