Trial Balance Consulting have been exclusively reengaged by a long standing client operating in the leisure and hospitality sector. The company have tasked us with sourcing an experienced Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant to join their finance team in a newly created role. The position is offered on a permanent contract and with part time working hours circa 30 hours per week, to be split between the company headquarters in Truro and with a hybrid working option if required.
Reporting to the company’s CFO and working as part of a friendly finance team, this will be an interesting role which focuses on producing high quality management accounts by extracting data from MS Excel spreadsheets and a Xero based digital accounting system. While it’s an analytical opportunity, it’s also one that works closely with colleagues throughout the business and has a highly commercial nature to it. Key responsibilities include:
1. Production of monthly and quarterly management accounts with accompanying commentary for the senior management team.
2. Providing senior management team with key financial intelligence to assist in ongoing projects, financial analysis, and budget/target reporting.
3. Commentating on monthly financial reporting pack data to financial and non-financial department leaders.
4. Taking a lead role in control account reconciliations, prepayments, accruals and recharges.
5. Providing assistance and support for quarterly reviews and annual budgets.
6. Identifying areas for improving financial performance of specific divisions of the business.
7. Assisting with budgeting and business planning.
8. Assisting in preparing for the annual audit.
9. Mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
10. Assisting the CFO with ongoing and ad-hoc business projects and costings.
This role calls for an experienced candidate, either operating in a management accounting capacity or as an Assistant Accountant. The position is likely to be data driven, so an excellent understanding of MS Excel (V Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.) will be an essential requirement. Previous experience gained in a multi-income-stream services environment would be advantageous though not essential. Candidates may be part/fully professionally or AAT qualified, or qualified by experience, but must possess excellent all-round IT aptitude (particularly MS Excel). This is a role that regularly liaises with colleagues in all departments, and communication skills are a must.
