There is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Hertfordshire Business School’s Strategic Management Department within the Executive Education Team as a Work-Based Learning Tutor, supporting apprentices across business related Apprenticeship Standards. You will work within a friendly and collegiate team in the development and delivery of part-time, leadership, management and business apprenticeships, supporting the apprentices in their work-based learning and on campus experience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to work with a significant portfolio of apprentices (and their employer mentors) on their apprenticeship journey, in a pastoral, compliance, administrative and academic capacity. You will work in a team of academics and professional staff, to support the apprentices towards successful End Point Assessment. You will engage with their Employer Mentors in the workplace, working to high professional standards, and you will support Module Leaders for core teaching sessions across the apprenticeships. You will also work closely with employer partners to plan, implement and monitor work-based learning. You will need to facilitate regular Progress Review Meetings and adopt a coaching approach to support the learners towards successful End Point Assessment.
Duties and responsibilities also include giving written / verbal feedback and marking of assessment work to apprentices pertaining to their portfolio building, evidence gathering, and narrative creation aligned to the Standard of the programme. You will collect and report on a range of data to demonstrate the development of our apprentices, working with employers to identify appropriate Off the Job training and a variety of apprenticeship administration.
Skills and experience required
You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and compelling communication skills to build relationships with apprentices and their employer mentors. Your application will show an in-depth understanding of how to support apprentices in work-based learning in higher education. Your experience of working with leaders and managers in industry/ business, and your skills of providing pastoral support will be evident. You will have proven learning and teaching, coaching and mentoring, and administration experience for the position.
You will have experience of managing the progress of cohorts of learners on their Apprenticeship by influencing apprentices and mentors, whilst maintaining compliance and administrative rigour. You will need to have the ability to work proactively and autonomously, whilst meeting deadlines. You must also have good I.T skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office and an ability to adopt new packages such as the University’s virtual learning environment.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a degree or equivalent or proven experience relevant to the role. Management and Leadership qualification or experience relevant to the role is essential. A teaching qualification or commitment to undertake one are essential. A coaching qualification is desirable.
