Following the enhancement of DES contract, we are looking for a newly qualified (within 2 yrs and not currently in a substantive post), enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP to join the practice of North Halifax Primary Care Network on a salaried contract. We will consider applications for 8 sessions with a start date as soon as possible.
The hours of work are by agreement during our core business hours 08:00 - 18:30h.
The post holder will work on a rota basis between the member practices. See location section for details.
You will be required to work across 4 practices, supporting our practices with GP access and appointments. All practices are Training Practices. We are a highly supportive PCN and the practices all work closely within the PCN, understanding the importance of a good work/life balance with an open door ethos.
A training budget will be invested in your development during this contract. We will work with you to tailor a package of training support and study leave that will give you the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to thrive in the early years of your career.

Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting. The main duties may include but are not limited to:
* Provide face-to-face and telephone consultations for routine and urgent care.
* Manage patient care in surgery, including investigating and reviewing results, developing care plans, and making referrals to secondary care, the PCN team, or other providers.
* Issue and sign repeat prescriptions, ensuring they align with national/local guidelines.
* Record clear, contemporaneous consultation notes using EMIS and S1 clinical systems.
* Ensure safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective care, in line with Practice clinical protocols and NICE guidance.
* Independently prescribe medications within your scope of practice.
* Administer and handle patient-related queries, test results, referral letters, and other tasks in a timely manner.
* Conduct patient home visits if needed. We do have an Acute Visiting Service.

North Halifax PCN is a well-established network of 4 practices:

* Caritas Group Practice
* Keighley Road Surgery
* Plane Trees Group Practice
We have worked collaboratively delivering care to our population of over 38,000 patients, even before the networks were created in 2019. The PCN (member practices, clinicians, first contact physiotherapists, clinical pharmacists) aims to provide the essential link between the health and social care needs of patients.
The team is managed by a PCN Manager and clinically led by the Clinical Director, representing the PCN board. We have adopted the Lead Practice model of PCN, which allows us to offer continuous service for NHS pension.
We work very closely with practices and encourage patient engagement to make sure the services we offer are aligned with the needs of the population and are also deliverable and sustainable.
