Our Client's property portfolio is one of the largest in the UK, from local delivery offices, admin sites, parcel depots to our new state-of-the-art fully automated superhubs. They are continually looking to improve carbon footprint and achieve their 'steps to zero' emissions initiative - energy consumption from their buildings is a key factor.
To support this, they are looking for a BEMS (Buildings Energy Management System) Energy Coordinator to play a vital role in identifying ways to improve energy efficiency, environment monitoring, and carbon emissions across the 1800 sites property portfolio.
The Role
As BEMS Energy Coordinator, you'll be responsible for the remote operation of building energy management systems across the estate, ensuring building user comfort is maintained and energy efficiency/cost savings are achieved, including savings delivered by external energy consultants.
Working within a wider multi-disciplinary Energy Management Team, you'll help deliver energy, water, cost, and carbon savings as part of a structured Energy Management System (EnMS) and support best practice energy management through:
1. Conducting remote analytics (e.g., monitoring and targeting, measurement and verification) and optimisation of building energy management systems (BEMS) across the property portfolio.
2. Supporting technological improvements, whether through maintenance, lifecycle or strategic enhancements, in areas with direct impact including but not limited to BEMS, energy analytics software, and metering/data acquisition technologies.
3. Interfacing between BEMS-related projects, such as installation of new BEMS, controls associated with new HVAC plant (e.g., decarbonised buildings and heat pump technologies), and wider energy-saving projects, such as energy performance contracts.
4. Ensuring that all BEMS systems and associated ICT infrastructure are fit-for-purpose and the future for a large portfolio estate focusing on energy efficiency whilst maintaining building user comfort.
About You
You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
1. Experience in the energy, low-carbon or related industry and an excellent understanding of principles of energy management, building services, and controls.
2. Excellent understanding and experience of building energy management systems (BEMS) installation, maintenance, operation, and optimisation.
3. Good understanding of BEMS-related ICT infrastructure and connectivity requirements for a large portfolio estate. Facilities Management background is advantageous.
4. Good presentational and written skills.
5. Experience of implementing change and continuous improvement activities.
6. Chartered (or working towards) chartership status of an appropriate professional body (e.g., Energy Institute, CIBSE).
7. Understanding of ISO50001 Energy Management Systems (EnMS) standard and plan-do-check-act continuous improvement methodology.
