Role:
The Transport Planner is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of customer orders, with the highest level of customer service. They will be part of a team of Transport Planners, completing specific tasks to ensure we provide the customer with first class service. These tasks will involve communication with both internal and external sales teams, sub-contractor hauliers and communication directly with the customer on a daily basis.
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00
Key Responsibilities:
* To organise, build and plan customer orders to be delivered on time / in full.
* Ensure Polypipe vehicles are being utilised as well as sourcing outside contractors to cover customer orders.
* Ensure that site requirements are identified, and appropriate action taken - including booking in of loads.
* Liaise with other departments regarding stock requirements.
* Advise the sales department in any cases where the delivery schedule will not be met.
* Despatch and process all paperwork as required.
* Create and issue transport reports.
* Work to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
* Manage returns and collections as and when required.
* Ensure that the IFS system is being used accurately & Control and administer all goods returned receipting activity on IFS, guaranteeing IFS is kept up to date in real-time.
* Ensure that all goods in related paperwork is received, signed, processed, and passed on to the relevant departments.
* Assisting with the integration and training of replacement Operations Admin Apprentice.
* Help with the logistics or trailers and truck scheduled PMI’s & Updating driver records on various systems
* Help run our fleet efficiently and in a timely manner & Record and action defects trailers and trucks
* In addition to the above, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
Requirements:
* C Grade in Maths and English Language HSCE or equivalent
* Business Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 & CPC would be desirable but not essential
* Previous experience of load planning & transport, with good Geographical knowledge
* Knowledge of Drivers hours would be desirable but not essential
* A good Standard of PC Literacy & Able to accurately complete paperwork.
* Flexibility to work shift patterns to cover any Holidays, sick, etc.
