This role leads on the planning and delivery of specialist SEND focused creative arts and digital media-based projects and delivery of partnership workshops (including vulnerable at risk and hard to reach groups of young people) at our Ladbroke Grove based youth club, Base at the Reed and in the local community at organisations including schools & other youth provisions. Our flagship, well-renowned project for young people with SEND is Access Digi-Base which runs from The Reed on Tuesday evenings weekly.Working with a diverse group of young people aged 10-25, we strongly believe in creating an inclusive environment which champions equality, diversity and individuality and delivers projects & activities adaptable to each young person's individual learning and wellbeing needs within a relaxed group setting.Our intergenerational centre The Reed opened in 2017 and we have an organisational history of delivering high quality youth work dating back to 2007. This role would be part of a well-established, community leading provision with a proven track record of strong impact, excellent retention, and award-winning outputs, including documentaries, broadcast quality films, mobile apps, music and podcasts.This role provides support to the Youth Programme Manager in delivering the youth programme strategy through the facilitation of innovative and dynamic youth projects, with a focus on work with young people with SEND (especially Access Digi-Base) and vulnerable young people eg at risk of exclusion. You will be supported in project delivery by a team of Youth Engagement Officers, and this is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about sharing their skills and creative ideas to inspire a wide variety of young people to reach their maximum potential and find their creative voice.This role requires in-person working either at The Reed in North Kensington, or on-site with our partners for detached work to include Tuesdays. THIS ROLE IS PART TIME - 10.5 HOURS PER WEEK, WITH FLEXABILLITY.Key Responsibilities Lead on conception, planning and delivery of specifically agreed projects/regular sessions, including Access Digi-Base, as part of the programme at our creative youth space, Base at the Reed Provide support, where required, on the delivery of other youth projects across the programme (eg our holiday programmes outside of term-time Facilitate and organise delivery of partnership and outreach youth work sessions at The Reed and in the local community (including work with vulnerable and hard to reach young people) Support the YPM in collecting impact questionnaire data and feedback consultations from young people to: Actively seek, listen to and respond to young people's voices including through: In sessional discussions; one to one reviews; interactions during youth activities Recognise and respond to any wellbeing concerns which may arise Enable the programme to be shaped by young people to be as youth-led as possible Support the YPM in recruitment of new young person members including marketing & outreach of the service; attending public meetings/assemblies, stakeholder meetings, community days and outreach sessions Support the Youth Programme Manager to collect key performance data per projects led on, such as: Attendance; project/Session plans, debriefs & incident reports; new membership forms; one to one reviews; feedback consultations Be knowledgeable of and strictly adhere to Octavia safeguarding policy and procedure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people attending the programme Support the compilation and collection of individual risk assessments for SEND young people engaging with our internally led youth projects. Provide support to SEND young people and their families in accessing external specialist support agencies where required Be knowledgeable of and adhere to best practice in health and safety standards at The Reed including fire safety; food hygiene; cleanliness and environmental hazards, especially as it pertains to young people with SEND and their individual support needs Able to be flexible with work hours (eg weekly evening sessions, school holiday periods and occasional weekend days) and undertake any task that may be requested from time to time by the YPM as may be consistent with the nature and scope of this post RequirementsFor this position, we have listed the requirements we believe are essential for this role:?? Experience 1 year minimum experience in regularly leading youth projects involving of working with a diverse range of young people with varying needs (eg SEND, neurodiverse, NEET, Mental health, risk of exclusion etc) (projects of a minimum of a school term/3 months long) Proven experience delivering youth projects and workshops to a diverse range of young people from different ages/backgrounds etc in different environments (eg Schools, youth clubs, offsite trips etc) Proven ability to work independently in developing a creative youth work project from idea stage, to budgeting resources to phase planning, effective delegation and delivering on agreed outcomes an outputs Knowledge Strong knowledge of resources (software/hardware/processes) used in creative and digital media-based projects in minimum one area (eg music, photography, film, design) Detailed knowledge of key issues faced by young people in London/society currently Confident understanding of safeguarding best practice and responding to safeguarding incidents and disclosures correctly, particularly with a focus on young people with SEND Qualifications / Skills Demonstrable high-level skill in a minimum of one creative or digital media-based skill (eg music, art & design, film, video game design etc) Qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience in youth work practice/safeguarding young people Excellent communication skills and ability to deliver clear concise messaging to a wide range of service users, being adaptable to their individual learning needs. Excellent planning and networking skills, and the ability to plan and deliver exciting workshops with a wide range of partner organisations, internally at The Reed and externally in the local community BenefitsThe salary for this role is £34,200 per annum with up to 10% pension contribution.
