Casual Technician / Dresser
BECTU/ Council Living wage £10.42 per hour (min call 3.5 hours)
Based at Bradford Theatres (Alhambra Theatre and St George’s Concert Hall)
Bradford Theatres are looking to recruit self-motivated and enthusiastic casual Technicians and Dressers to join our busy Technical Department. The successful candidate will work across all three of our prestigious venues: The Alhambra Theatre, Studio Theatre, and St George’s Concert Hall. Occasionally, as needs arise, the King’s Hall Winter Garden may also be included.
The Alhambra Theatre is a 1450-seated venue, highly recognized nationally as one of the largest professional receiving venues, hosting a wide variety of shows, including drama, opera, ballet, international dance, West End musicals, and traditional pantomimes. St George’s Concert Hall, with a capacity of 1374 seated / 1572 standing, is renowned for its acoustics, hosting a varied program ranging from an international orchestral season to rock concerts, children's shows, and comedy seasons. The Studio Theatre is a versatile performance and rehearsal venue presenting a varied program for small-scale theatre productions, rehearsals, exhibitions, and meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
1. For the post of Casual Technician: A minimum of 12-24 months experience in duties relating to electrical equipment, including programming ETC ION desks, focusing, fault finding, and other backstage work in large Theatre and Concert Hall environments.
2. For the post of Casual Dresser: Knowledge and ideally experience of working in a Theatre, Back of House in the Technical stage related area. Consideration will be given to candidates showing the correct attitude and aptitude with a willingness to learn and self-development.
Candidates must be prepared to work long and usually unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. They must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustments where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
