City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council Department of Place Casual Technician / Dresser BECTU/ Council Living wage £10.42 per hour (min call 3.5 hours) Based at Bradford Theatres (Alhambra Theatre and St George’s Concert Hall) Bradford Theatres are looking to recruit self-motivated and enthusiastic casual Technicians and Dressers to join our busy Technical Department. The successful candidate will work across all three of our prestigious venues, The Alhambra Theatre, Studio Theatre and St George’s Concert Hall. Occasionally as needs are required the King’s Hall Winter Garden also. The Alhambra Theatre is a 1450 seated venue, and highly recognised nationally as one of the largest professional receiving venues, playing host to a wide variety of shows, ranging from drama, opera, ballet, international dance, West End musicals and of course the traditional pantomime. St George’s Concert Hall is a 1374 seated /1572 standing venue and is one of the best acoustic concert venues around hosting a varied programme ranging from an international orchestral season, rock concerts to children’s shows and comedy seasons. The Studio Theatre is a versatile performance / rehearsal venue presenting a varied programme for small-scale theatre productions, rehearsals, exhibitions and meetings. For the post of Casual Technician you must have a minimum of 12-24 months experience of carrying out all duties relating to the electrical equipment including programming ETC ION desks, focusing, fault finding and other backstage work with in large Theatre and Concert Hall environment. For the post of Casual Dresser you must have a knowledge and ideally experience of working in a Theatre, Back of House in the Technical stage related area. However, for this position consideration will be given for those candidates showing the correct attitude and aptitude with a willingness to learn and self development. Candidates must be prepared to work long and usually unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays and must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
