Patient Pathway Coordinator/Medical Secretary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital for a Patient Pathway Coordinator/ Medical Secretary post within the Stroke department at East Kent Hospitals. This post is for 37.5 hours a week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent administration skills. The candidate should be able to adapt to a changing environment and show confidence, knowledge, and experience in the use of hospital-based IT systems.
Main duties of the job
1. Proactively co-ordinate patients through their treatment pathway ensuring a smooth process and compliance to National Cancer waiting time standards, National RTT compliance standard, diagnostic standards, and any internal targets.
2. Provide comprehensive administrative, clerical, and audio typing support to consultants and their teams.
3. Monitor new patient referrals to Consultant workflow and escalate where necessary.
4. Support the Operational Managers in achieving utilisation targets for outpatient clinics and timely recording of clinical outcomes.
5. Act as key point of contact on behalf of the department and the Trust and deal effectively and courteously with all enquiries from consultant and clinical teams, Operational Managers, GPs, patients, other departments within the Trust and all other departments, as well as external providers.
6. Organise own work schedule, adapt the schedule as required to meet commitments to others within the agreed timescales and, where this is not achievable, give notification promptly with reasons to line manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE A-C
* Computer literate including Word and Excel and use of software packages eg, outlook for updating calendars NVQ
* Level 2, RSA level 3 or equivalent
Skills
* 2 years' experience in an administrative role
* Work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Excellent communication skills, listening skills, and minute taking.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Good time management.
* Excellent verbal, written, and numerical skills
* Knowledge of NHS systems, including All Scripts/PAS
* Initiation of processes for data collection, preferably clinical data.
* Knowledge of NHS performance standards

* Ability to undertake surveys and audits as necessary to own work
* Processing of confidential information (Data Protection Act 1998)
Personal & Professional Attributes
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
