BBC Switchboard Operator
Salary: £11.44 then £13.72 per hour after training.
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Shifts: Full Time working position across various shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays (Day shift and Nightshifts).
Hours: 12 hour Shifts between 8.30am-9pm (days) and 8pm-9am (nights).
Location: BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay
Training: Full training provided - 2-3 weeks covering normal office working hours.
The opportunity
Based at BBC Scotland's Pacific Quay, this role is part of the contract with the BBC to provide a 24/7 Switchboard Operator service.
Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Include:
1. Providing a professional operator service, acting as the common interface for internal and external callers within the BBC environment.
2. Answering all calls in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner, ensuring all calls are connected to the desired destination.
3. Performing operators' duties on the BBC Operator Services switchboard within the laid down procedures and familiarizing oneself with all processes.
4. Providing cover for sickness and annual leave as required, for day and night shifts.
5. Updating the BBC Telephone database.
6. Recording daily handover and ensuring colleagues are aware of any events which could impact calls.

Skills We Can't Do Without:
1. Adopting a flexible approach to customer and management requests as required.
2. Having keyboard skills with working knowledge of PC software packages.
3. Possessing good communication skills.
4. Having experience working in a contact centre environment or similar.
Skills We'd Like:
1. Previous experience in a Switchboard environment is desirable but not essential.
