Job Summary
The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team throughout the Homerton supporting temporary staffing requests. They will use their professional skill set and calming influence to identify and support patients presenting with mental health needs, supporting the implementation and engagement of care plans.
The RMN will be part of the multi-disciplinary team providing care to patients who present to the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation trust.
Main Duties of the Job
* Support patients presenting with mental health needs, on a shift-to-shift basis, ensuring the delivery of high quality and safe care.
* Use specialist knowledge and skill set to identify and detail deterioration/improvements in patient's mental health and escalate to relevant teams where there are significant risks.
* Engage directly with patients in a holistic manner to determine clinical, environmental, and social needs.
* Assist in the management of clinical emergencies under the direction of the nurse in charge.
* Be part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing care to patients with physical needs.
* Deliver excellent patient care through continuous review of evidence-based clinical standards.
* Contribute to policy, standards, and development of specialist care delivery strategies.
* Maintain effective communication between teams.
* Act as a resource providing clinical information for other areas.

Qualifications
* Essential: RMN, Evidence of ongoing and professional development.
* Desirable: Teaching and Assessing Qualification.
Skills and Abilities
* Essential: Effective Communication, Evidence of ability to support patients within the Emergency Department, Excellent interpersonal and counselling skills.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working with patients who have acute mental health crisis, Ability to work within a team.
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in an Emergency Department.
Knowledge
* Essential: Understanding of confidentiality issues, Knowledge of appropriate legislations around mental health act and legal frameworks.
