If you want to take your first step into a career supporting young people to achieve their potential, then we would love to hear from you. Youth Development Workers work Monday to Friday and are part of a multidisciplinary team on site supporting the young people who can live with us. The role includes some element of lone working, but only for short periods of time.
What will I be responsible for doing?
First and foremost, you will be providing key worker support to our young people. Working through support and action plans, updating risk assessments and risk management plans with them, in order for them to develop the life skills necessary to move on and live independently in the community.
As a specialist in tenancy sustainment, you will ensure that young people are able to maintain their excluded licence and tenancies and can access services that are appropriate to their needs, strengths, and aspirations.
One of the great things about this role is being able to bring your own personality. Our young people come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we try to mirror that in our team of colleagues.
This role is being offered on a full-time basis, working 29.6 hours per week. Bandwidth hours will be 9.30am to 8pm.
Minimum Requirements:
1. An ability to engage with a range of young people.
2. A tenacity in seeking the best outcomes for young people.
3. A good understanding of young people's needs, safeguarding, and emotional and mental health issues.
4. An understanding of support needs and support planning.
5. An understanding of risk assessing and risk management.
Ideally, you will be:
1. Innovative and creative in your ways of working.
2. Resilient and flexible in dealing with others.
3. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
4. Confident in lone working and a good team player.
This role is really suited to someone who likes to manage their own diary and caseload and enjoys interacting with lots of people on a daily basis.
The most important part of this role is to have pride in your work and have a positive attitude, a proactive approach, and the confidence to support a diverse range of young people. You will be able to balance your passion and commitment with good organisational skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
