Senior Material Requirements Planner
The role
We require somebody who is experienced in ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary to meet our production requirements. Someone who can help and support the Materials Requirements Planner, look after packaging, and be more involved in the NPD process. The person who fulfills this role will have experience in a similar role, have experience in a supervisory position/line management of a small team, and will be used to coordinating with other departments, maintaining strong relationships both internally and externally. You will be able to deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet production requirements, taking into consideration cost, supplier lead times, and MOQs. You will also be the first point of contact for suppliers and issue resolution responsibilities.
The main responsibilities include:
* Schedule the supply of packaging/new products to meet production requirements while maintaining minimum safety stock levels.
* Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions.
* Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries.
* Day-to-day responsibility for the MRP team and dealing with daily issues:
o Working with suppliers on supply issues
o Communicating issues and impacts to the planning team
o Communicating issues to operations that will impact production/supply.
o Holiday/Sickness cover for the MR planner
* Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule.
* Take follow-up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production with the Purchasing Manager who owns the supplier relationship.
* Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives while identifying areas of improvement.
* Help to set up and utilize any Material Requirements Planning systems (MRP) within Sage 200, ensuring that data is accurate and up to date and resolving any issues as required.
* Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.
* Monitor inventory levels against agreed target levels.
* Minimize obsolete stock and ensure the business is left with minimum liability.
* Create regular statistical reports and analysis.

What we’re looking for:
* 3 years + experience in a similar role.
* Line management/team leader/supervisory experience in a similar role.
* Previous experience of materials planning ideally in a food manufacturing environment.
* Good understanding of supply chain processes.
* Understanding of supplier relationships and experience of working with suppliers.
* Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills.
* Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar.
* Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
* Issue resolution management experience in a similar role.
