We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our Pre-Op Administration Team. We aim to provide an A-class service, going above and beyond, putting our patients first to ensure a smooth and efficient journey. As a team, we strive to always empower each other and work as one.
This may be your first employment within the NHS or you may already be working in a healthcare environment but feel ready for a change! We have experienced colleagues in our Team so you will be fully supported in your role.
You will provide a first point of contact for all staff and visitors contacting or attending the Pre-Operative Assessment units at both Royal Preston and Chorley Hospital, acting in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Main duties of the job
You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills, ability to use your own initiative, work within a team and be able to work under pressure to ensure targets are achieved.
As part of the booking services team you will be expected to show flexibility and provide cover, if required, at times of annual leave or extended sickness for colleagues.
You will join a welcoming and motivated Team, all of whom do their very best to provide an excellent administrative service to our patients.
Great office and IT skills will be essential to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Perform an ambassadorial role, representing the Pre-op Department administration service acting in a professional, courteous and customer-focused manner at all times.
Contact patients with bookings information, liaise with other departments to schedule patients as appropriate, answer telephone and email queries, take messages, direct where appropriate, meet and greet and provide assistance directing visitors to the department to appropriate locations.
Maintain confidentiality at all times as required by legislation and Trust Policy.
Data Entry /Clinic Preparation.

* Oral, written, telephone, listening and questioning skills
* Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with people at all levels and across different disciplines
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work without close supervision in a pressurised environment
* Previous use of Quadramed
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of working as part of a team and using initiative
* Experience of working in a changing environment
* Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
* Previous experience of working in a health care or related setting
* Previous experience of working with the public
* Previous experience of a busy reception environment
Qualifications & Education
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
