About the role
We are recruiting for an experienced Tower Crane Driver to work at our new development in Aldridge, West Midlands.
As the Crane Driver, you will take responsibility for the safe lifting of equipment and building materials onsite, by the correct operation of the tower crane.
The Crane Driver will follow the relevant regulations, legislation and manufacturer’s technical instructions, practicing safe working methods at all times, from pre-work checks through to the safe completion of works.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Crane Driver has a responsibility to conduct ongoing risk assessments to identify potential dangers, including the welfare of colleagues, contractors, visitors to site, and pedestrians, keeping abreast of the impact of works happening on site and other safety issues or disturbances such as weather and swinging loads.
In addition, the Crane Driver will carry out all necessary maintenance and servicing checks of plant and equipment.
Hours of work on site are 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime opportunities.
This role is offered as a permanent opportunity, with future developments planned under the direction of the Construction Manager.
About you
You will demonstrate previous experience as a Tower Crane Driver and possess a valid tower crane driving licence, having undergone all appropriate training as advised in the HSE guidance note GS 39.
You should have in-depth knowledge of the HSE Act 1974, Construction (lifting operations) Regulations 1961, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, and Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations 1996.
You will have knowledge of the duties of the Slinger/Banksman and understand the recognised code of manual signals.
You should be able to judge distances, heights, and clearances accurately and communicate effectively in English.
