The Role An experienced and motivated technician is sought to join a specialized contract research organization as a technical specialist. The organization focuses on delivering customized pre-clinical research to provide clients with reliable data for informed decision-making in clinical trial development. Key Accountabilities Conduct high-quality, tailored research based on blinded client proposals. Manage the preparation and reconstitution of client-provided compounds. Collaborate effectively within a team, maintaining flexibility to meet project deadlines. Operate independently to troubleshoot experiments and resolve technical issues. Oversee day-to-day experimental activities involving in vitro, biochemical, and molecular techniques, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safety standards (e.g., COSHH). Collect, process, analyze, and present experimental data, maintaining accurate and secure records in line with GLP standards. Support laboratory operations, including cleaning, equipment maintenance, and procurement of materials. Handle and process biological tissue samples, including collection and storage. Prepare sample keys, verify sample shipments, and manage sample preservation at study conclusion. Train new team members in laboratory techniques and workflows. Prepare project documentation, such as treatment and master sheets. Liaise with senior management to address challenges and ensure projects are delivered to GLP standards. The Person Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Awareness of laboratory health and safety protocols. Strong background in cell and molecular biology, with expertise in fibrosis research for tissues such as liver, lung, and kidney. Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and graph production. Exceptional organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to adapt and apply innovative methods to advance project goals. Laboratory skills in: Cell line and primary cell culture, including tissue explants. RNA extraction, PCR, and real-time PCR (e.g., Sybr Green, molecular probes). ELISA and protein isolation techniques. Demonstrable lab experience in a related field. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed. Hepatitis B vaccination (preferred).
