We are pleased to be recruiting a Buyer for our established client in the Abercynon area.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and development of a portfolio of suppliers from whom our client buys goods and services that are critical to their operations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for maintaining assigned supplier relations by selecting suppliers and negotiating prices for material and/or services required, ensuring procurement of nominated materials and services to agreed programmes by the most economic, timely and efficient means.
2. Analyse, negotiate and report supplier price changes.
3. Conduct periodic commodity surveys to obtain price comparisons; evaluate market trends to develop new services and create cost savings.
4. Select new and alternative sources of supply and in collaboration with technical staff select new and alternative materials and services, providing technical and/or commercial advantage to the company.
5. Ensure all purchasing requisitions and programmes are correct and reflect the current supplier's lead-times, keeping management and user departments informed where changes threaten work programmes.
6. Identify potential problem areas and recommend changes.
7. Minimise the company's exposure with regard to MOQ's and price increases, obtaining the relevant authority levels.
8. Proactive liaison with other departments as necessary to forecast, plan to meet, and supply demand to relevant quality.
9. Administration and reporting as required.
10. Payment terms negotiation, optimisation and management.
11. Identify & drive continuous improvements within the areas of control.
12. Control and minimise excess and cost/stock.
13. International trading issues/imports/legal awareness.
14. Ensure compliance with company codes of conduct and H&S.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
1. 3+ years' experience of Purchasing within a manufacturing or similar environment.
2. Ability to think strategically with an innovative approach to problem solving.
3. Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost reduction through use of appropriate strategic purchasing tools.
4. Familiar with ERP, MRP systems & Purchasing systems.
5. Supplier Relationship Management.
6. Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
7. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
This is a regular day role, Monday to Friday offering a salary between £25,000 - £35,000 per year DOE.
